To Ubuntu Developers and Computer Manufacturers – Voice recognition app in the Netbook version

February 19, 2010

Hello Ubuntu Developers and Computer Manufacturers :

Suggestion: To incorporate Voice Recognition app into the Ubuntu Os such there then there is no need or elliminating the need of a keyboard.

I do understand that a keyboard is needed.

How about making different versions where some have keyboards and some do not.

ps: I have not been paid to write or suggest this option.

Thank you,

the multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\DRIVERS\Mup.sys error

The multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\DRIVERS\Mup.sys error.

I installed Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0. and five other Windows Microsoft suite 2007 updates four days ago.

Day before yesterday, I was checking out the applications from the SD card (I had used an SD card to install the Suite, Skype apps).

I observed that if the SD card was in my cell phone and if I accessed the apps from it, my computer would hang and the only way out was to reboot.
(One time after reboot, the system ran the check disk utility). Works without a problem if the SD card is plugged into the computer’s SD card slot.

Next morning when I started my computer, it keep booting and rebooting and gave the option to start in safe mode or last known configuration or normal mode.
None of these helped / worked. I kept getting the error.

My savior was Ubuntu Linux Live CD. I booted of of it and searched for this error. The resolution was to boot of the recovery disk  and then press Function “F8” key. The F8 key sounds like Fate !! that is how I felt. At the mercy.
Accept the license and continue. May be I did not read, I did not get the option.

I consulted my friend. He informed me of the same steps.

I took a break and returned to tackle the problem. I found I had the last recovery disk in the CD drive not first, ah!!

I was able to boot from the CD.
I read about the “F11” key which was displayed when the system booted from the CD. One can use the F11 key during boot up to get to the Recovery setup. Well, at that point I decided to follow the instructions on the screen. I did not get the F8 option and the hard drive got reformatted, cleaned like the day when I bought the system.

Good it is working with IE 6 and all my data did not get erased as I save it on an external drive.

I need to reinstall Microsoft Office suite, ZoneAlarm, AVG, Spybot and Printer driver and the camera driver. (With Ubuntu, the printer driver was installed !!).

Suggestion: The Operating system should be such that if there is an new app installed the system should ask if a Restore point needs to be created even if the option is turned off. Like the delete function. When we delete a file the system displays are you sure you want to delete the file?

Good Learning.
